The Bure des Moines

It was in 2019 that Hélène and Louis PLANCHOT bought the commercial business and the vines of Château La Bure des Moines from the DOUMICHAUD family.

Of Corrézienne origin like us, Alain Doumichaud comes from a long and prestigious family of wine merchants and owners in the Saint Emilion region.

In order to continue to serve our customers as well as possible, the purchase of the vines of Château La Bure des Moines was done in association with Emeric and Virginie PETIT of the excellent and very renowned Château Tournefeuille in Lalande de Pomerol as well as Christophe DELLOYE , a friend and great lover of wines from the north of France.

Château La Bure des Moines is a small vineyard of 6.5 HA in Bordeaux Supérieur in the commune of Artigues de Lussac. It is located at the crossroads of the Montagne-Saint-Emilion, Lalande-de-Pomerol and Lussac-Saint-Emilion appellations.

The 2020 vintage is the first vintage entirely conducted and vinified by us. This same vintage has a new look for both the bottles and the boxes.

The vineyard is planted with Merlot for 80% and 20% with Cabernet Franc on a gravel soil of the Pomerolaise type, with well-exposed slopes, carefully worked with respect for traditions and nature.

Château La Bure des Moines produces well-typed wines, which from 1908 were called "Les petits Pomerols".

The vinification and the aging of the wines are done in the best conditions thanks to the very recent installations of Château Tournefeuille. barrel and amphora, give intense ruby red wines, silky tannins, volume and density.

Three cuvées are the result of this rigorous work:

  • The Château La Bure des Moines,

  • The Chateau Les Serres,

  • The Cuvée Le Chant du Taureau.

Château Les Serres in Bordeaux AOC is our second wine. It comes from young vines and plots at the foot of the hill. 100% Merlot, it is matured separately in vats and third wine barrels. This cuvée allows us to offer our customers an excellent quality/price/pleasure ratio. It should be drunk over 2 to 5 years.

Château La Bure des Moines in Bordeaux Supérieur AOC comes from the best plots of the property. 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the aging is done for 50% in barrels, 40% in vats and 10% in amphoras. Of a very Pomerolais type, this wine requires 2 to 3 years before offering all its elegance and complexity. It will keep and drink beautifully over 7 to 8 years.

We are very proud for this first vintage of 2020 to have won two medals.

A silver medal at the “Vin Prix Plaisir” competition in Bettane and Desseauve.

A gold medal at the "Elle à Table" competition.

The Cuvée Le Chant du Taureaux in Bordeaux Supérieur AOC comes from a plot and a selection of grapes. 100% Merlot, aging is done exclusively in amphora. A very expressive fruit, silky tannins and a very nice volume in the mouth make this wine an exceptional cuvée intended for the most demanding. Drink and keep for 8 to 10 years.
